Problem Space
When tracking steps and fitness, some individuals may manipulate data by manually logging inaccurate steps, shaking their devices, or using other methods to inflate their step counts. This behavior undermines the integrity of the data and defeats the purpose of tracking genuine progress. The issue often stems from a desire to win competitions, earn rewards, or achieve goals without putting in the required effort. Such cheating can demotivate honest participants and distort competition results, negatively impacting the overall experience.

Task Flow
The task flow for the step-tracking app starts with downloading and installing it. Users then create an account, input personal data, set daily step goals, and sync with wearable devices. They explore the app to join or create competitions, track progress with real-time updates, view competitor profiles, and send motivational and humorous messages. Users receive achievement summaries to share socially at the end of each competition. The app continuously runs in the background, sending reminders and encouraging new goals, blending fitness tracking with community interaction to boost user engagement and intrinsic motivation.

Journey Map of a User's Experience of Fit Frenzy
The journey map provides a comprehensive visualization of the user experience within the app, capturing the emotional and cognitive responses at each stage of interaction. It begins with the initial engagement, where users discover the app explore its features, and follow through to their ongoing interaction and usage. By mapping out user thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, the journey map uncovers key drivers of engagement, identifies pain points, and highlights moments that delight users. This tool offers valuable insights to refine the app experience and better meet user needs.
Initial Sketch
The image shows a series of screens from a social fitness app where users can create or join groups, track their walking progress, and compare it on a leaderboard. Esha leads the leaderboard with 11.4 miles walked, and the app also highlights a weekly recap showing Esha as the person with the most steps. Meanwhile, Natalie is humorously showcased as 'this week's loser,' encouraging friendly competition among the group.
